This week, we’ll have an opportunity to learn how we might contribute to the enrichment of a new refugee’s life in Australia. Thanks to a non-profit, Great Lakes Agency for Peace and Development (GLAPD – the acronym is pronounced ‘glah-ped’), more than 100 refugees from Africa’s Great Lakes region have found new homes. There are many on the waiting list.  They struggle with conversational English, learning how to use Western style appliances, navigating Australian shops, and applying their considerable skills to the Australian labour market.

To see how one NSW town has embraced and benefited from refugees, watch Australian Story: https://www.abc.net.au/austory/a-field-of-dreams-opening-teaser/
