The Darling: 3/10/2022

Dear members and friends of the Rotary Club of Sydney Darling Harbour,
It’s no secret that the last three years have knocked a lot of wind out of a lot of sails. Our Club is not immune, with many of our traditional events and projects being largely impossible for the past three years, while existing a in a permanently changed world which has required us to fundamentally change how we do business.

I’m keen to see our Club begin to thrive again, and I believe the first step on that journey will be our upcoming strategy meeting, beginning at 6PM on Wednesday the 12th of October, at the PSK Offices in Level 12 at 25 Martin Place, Sydney (this is a new location for the Club).

I hope to see you there, and I look forward to hearing your opinions, passion and direction as to what the Club should put its hand to for the next year.

The Rotary Club of Sydney Darling is an active and an effective community service group, with a broad array of projects on the go. We support women’s homeless shelters, we plant trees, we organise fundraisers and much, much more. We have members from all walks of life and are always ready to try our hand at something new. This week, we’re locking in our strategy for the remainder of the Rotary year. Your positions on projects, input on initiatives and guidance on giving would be welcome, and would go a long way to ensuring the future and impact of our work. We’d be delighted to add any project you’d like to raise to our list, and to show how the global Rotary network can help make you a part of making the world a better place.

Final Thoughts

The Xerox 914, the first commercially successful photocopier, came equipped with a ‘scorch eliminator’. The scorch eliminator was actually just a fire extinguisher, which was required as the device commonly caught fire.

Well, that’s it from me. Don’t forget that our next meeting is on Wednesday the 12th of October at 6PM, taking place at the PSK Offices. For more information, please visit https://rotarydarlingharbour.org.au/events/club-meeting-12-10-2022/

Until next week,
Drew Sturgiss
President
