The Darling: 17/10/2022

Dear members and friends of the Rotary Club of Sydney Darling Harbour,

Thanks to all that attended our Strategic Planning Meeting on Wednesday. We’ve definitely set ourselves some high targets for the remainder of the year, and I look forward to us doing our best to meet them. Once change, which you may notice below, is that we have scrapped the monthly evening meetings. These simply weren’t well attended, indicating that the type of event wasn’t of interest to our membership. We will be replacing these with regular volunteering activities, allowing us to socialise while also making the world a better place.

Speaking of which, our November Tree-Planting activity has unfortunately been washed out. The Club has now booked to plant trees in Mandemar in early March. I hope to see you there, please sign up using the form on the event page.

28th Annual Rotary Charity Harbour Cruise
November 18, 2022 at 8:00 pm
Cruising Yacht Club Of Australia

Our friends at the Rotary Club of Sydney Cove have been running this regatta for 28 years, and have donated millions to support research projects at the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, their principal beneficiary for 25 years.

The Regatta runs out of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA), the home of the ROLEX Sydney to Hobart race. The yacht owners provide around 50 of the best yachts and their crew – like Ichi Ban and Wild Oats – for free one day each November to support the regatta.

Don’t miss a great day out in support of an incredible cause. Sail on over to https://www.rotarysolascharityregatta.com.au/ to secure your tickets now!

Final Thoughts

It’s illegal to own just one guinea pig in Switzerland. It’s considered animal abuse because they’re social beings and get lonely.

Well, that’s it from me. Don’t forget that our next meeting is on Wednesday the 26th of October at 6PM, taking place at online. For more information, please visit https://rotarydarlingharbour.org.au/events/virtual-meeting-26-10-2022/

Until next week,
Drew Sturgiss
President
Rotary Club of Sydney Darling Harbour
