2019 NSW Inspirational Women’s Awards – Rotary Celebrates Winners

Four outstanding women have been named winners of the 2019 Rotary Inspirational Women’s Awards at a sold out lunch held at the City Tattersall’s Club on Sunday 27 October. The lunch was hosted by the Rotary Club of Sydney Darling Harbour. Sixteen women were judged by panels of Rotarians from Rotary Districts across the state.

The Minister for Mental Health, Regional Youth and Women, The Honourable Bronnie Taylor MLC, today announced the 16 NSW 2019 finalists for Inspirational Women’s Awards proudly presented by the Rotary Club of Darling Harbour. Minister Taylor said the Awards are a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on the enormous contribution of women in both city, regional and rural communities across New South Wales.

The Rotary Club of Sydney Darling Harbour is pleased to announce the launch of the Inspirational Women’s Awards 2019, held on 6 June 2019 at Parliament House hosted by The Hon Mark Coure, MP, Member for Oatley and Assistant Speaker of the NSW Legislative Assembly. While individual organisations have specific internal awards, the Rotary Inspirational Women’s Awards (RIWA) recognises service to the community across all sectors. It is directed at the non-Rotary community. It is about commitment, dedication, perseverance and pro-activity in improving the lives of others. The Awards are open to women across NSW.

Darling Ron Sleeps Out With all the Best People

On Thursday night 21st June 2018 – the winter solstice – Darling Ron Browne slept with 307 other like-minded people at the White Bay Cruise Terminal.  They were all gathered to raise funds for Vinnies (The St Vincent de Paul Society) to support their work with the homeless and disadvantaged.

Maisie Hayward Sewing School

The Rotary Club of Sydney Darling Harbour has helped set up a Sewing School in Nepal to allow impoverished women to learn sewing and tailoring skill so they can earn income in their own right. Sewing machines have been purchased and instructors engaged. The school has trained more than 43 women to date.

Rosalie House

Rosalie House is a temporary, up to 2 year, home for single mature women in crisis, operated by the “Vinnies”. In 2015 and 2016 the “Darlings” undertook to, internally, fully repaint the 6 bedrooms, hallway, living room, kitchen, office laundry and bathroom.
